Can I rate this book six stars?
My wife bought my son and I copies for Christmas. It's been an indespenable help! It's easy to locate a place that meets the requirements of those traveling in your party. I've never thought enough of a book to take the time to write a review, but Simpson did his homework so you don't have to. The descriptions listed contained all the info I needed, plus some. I've already made reservations for my spring trip! It's a bed and breakfast so my wife is even looking forward to this trip. TRAVELING FISHERMEN NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BOOK BEFORE THEIR NEXT TRIP....

WOW
Just got this book. All I can say is that it's great. Gave me lots of ideas for places to take a fishing vacation that I hadn't really considered before. And when they say for ALL budgets they mean it! There are some real bargains in the book as well as some super nice places. They've even listed places you can only hike to or ride a boat to or take a plane.... Highly recommended!

The Folly Of Assumption

Inspiring and Intelligent
Lee Martindale's "The Folly of Assumption" is an intelligent and witty collection os short stories that inspire and enthrall the reader. Lee takes the common stereotypes of beauty and ability and turns them on their ears. The emergence of of heroes of size and substance as exciting, vibrant, beautiful people is something long overdue. This collection is sorely needed, appreciated, and worth reading over and over again.

What a wonderful little book!
I have known Lee for about a year now. I picked up her latest book at a Convention here in Houston. I know that Lee is a Large Size Activisit. Meaning that she is a fighter for Fat Rights. The stories in this book go along with that theme. A few days after the convention I picked up the book. I am a fairly slow reader...but I sucked these stories up like they were ice water on a hot Texas summerday. All of the stories were just little treats to be savored. I will definatly read this book again. My only complaint is that the book was not longer. I hope that there will be a second vomume soon. I encourage everyone to pick this one up.

For Freedom's Sake: The Life of Fannie Lou Hamer
Published in Paperback by Univ of Illinois Pr (Trd) (August, 2000)
Author: Chana Kai Lee
Average review score:

A Wonderful Book
I have read and heard so much about men in the Civil Rights Movement, and I have read so little about women. This book for me filled a gap.It told an exciting story with great eloquence. It portrayed the life of a heroine of the Civil Rights Movement, and described the times. And it was at the same time rich and intellectually sophisticated. I cannot recommend this book enough to all readers, and I hope these comments motivate others to get this wonderful book and read it.

A stirring and important biography of an important American
Chana Kai Lee makes a crucial contribution to our understanding of the civil rights movement with this stirring and important biography of Fanny Lou Hamer. Mrs. Hamer, an icon in the movement and a force unto herself, was one of the strongest and most influential voices in the African American struggle for freedom. Thanks to Professor Lee, that voice echoes for the ages in the pages of For Freedom's Sake. This is a book that all Americans should read and that students and general readers alike will enjoy. Like its subject, this well-crafted book will be a beacon for freedom for many years to come.

I loved it!
Breezy and Jonathan deserved to find love! They had both been hurt so badly in the past, but they both learned that love can overcome almost anything. The way Breezy and Jonathan fall in love is sweet. I think it was a definate keeper! Jonathan and Breezy start off both being very determined to have a business relationship, as neither wanted more- but the fates were on their side, and on the side of the adorable baby they decide to adopt

For Keeps is a book you won't want to miss.
I enjoyed For Keeps very much and I'm sure that anyone with a romantic nature will too. Breezy Zapato and Jonathan Oakes are characters I won't soon forget. For Keeps is a book that will fill your heart with pleasure and leave you smiling. L.P

Force Recon Command: A Special Marine Unit in Vietnam, 1969-1970 (Naval Institue Special Warfare)
Published in Hardcover by United States Naval Inst. (September, 1995)
Authors: Alex Lee and Alfred M. Gray
Average review score:

A story of Love and War!
I know Alex Lee, as well as "Doc" Norton and Paul "Old Man" Keaveney. A. Lee says this book, in my inscription, is a book about love , the love one man has for another, so he is willing to lay his life down for the other! I heartily suggest you read this book, if you want an honest, frank account of war, as seen through the eyes of the men who fought it! I have worked with these men, and written about them. I think the highest compliment I could get was when Alex Lee said to me, Kevin, we read what you wrote and know what was published. You are "One of My Marines"! As a Young Marine Support Staff person, I have had Paul Keaveney come and speak to our Young Marines. I have had "Doc" Norton Speak at our USMC Birthday Balls. They are fine Americans, and honest, dedicated loyal U. S. Marines.!!!!! Semper FI!!

awesome book
This is one of the best books on military leadership I have ever read. LtCol Lee's willingness to highlight not only what he and his unit achieved but also what could have done diffently seperates this book from being just another "I was there" book full of sea stories. Excellent read. I encourage any Marine or Army NCO or officer to pick this book up. Lots of lessons learned future generations can read here.

Forever, Rose
Published in Paperback by Leisure Books (November, 1999)
Author: Robin Lee Hatcher
Average review score:

Inspiring & heart warming
This is my first book of Robin Lee Hatcher. I was deeply taken by it that I bought the sequels. Had I known earlier that this is a series, I would have read the book in order. Read WHERE THE HEART IS first before this book. That way, you will learn more of Rose. It'll make you understand her more & you will appreciate her friendship with Lark more deeply. Naturally, reading the first book of the series gave more impact on this one. Read in order: It'll make a huge difference.

Here's the series in sequence:

1st: WHERE THE HEART IS ------> 2nd: FOREVER,ROSE --------> 3rd: REMEMBER WHEN ------------> 4th: Kiss me, Katie.

I have read many sequel books and normally, the second/third books of any sequel novels aren't as good as the first one anymore. Even though I haven't read the whole series yet (one more to go) I think it is fair to say that I find all three books satisfying. Each book gets better & better.

The Americana series is about a town called Homestead, Idaho. The creation of the town beginning with just few families in small farm houses, one main street and only few stores to it's booming times with railroads and big hotels. I have only read three of the series but so far, it makes me feel like I am in the town itselft. There are many characters aside from the two primary couples. It contains love stories as well as family and neighborly love scenes. People helping one another is heart warming. Like every small town, everyone knows everybody's business and gossips cannot be avoided. Though I find that flaw amusing in many ways. My favorite aside from the romance story is that the each book contains many updates of the characters from the previous book. I also enjoy reading books about children and their growing up years especially if they become the couple or the main characters in the next book. It is like keeping track of a mini series in T.V.. This is what makes the series so interesting from the beginning to the end.

Rose Townsend is brave & feisty in the outside yet scared & lonely in the inside. Her ugly past have lots to do with her insecurities and fears yet this never sways her from being unselfish & loving. Her spirit and heart remains intact despite her ugly childhood. She's a fighter with warm heart in every way. This is what makes me admire her most but at the same time, i feel sorry for her sadness. Michael Rafferty's childhood was far better than Roses. He was more fortunate & privileged. Living in a mansion with butlers, cooks & maids. A father who cares and a stepmother who treats him fairly and with love... yet he was eaten with hatred towards his half brother. Money & his father's Palace Hotels was the only thing that really mattered to him until he met Rose. With all the comfort & the money he had, he never found and felt the true happiness & contentment of life. Rose showed him that money can't buy it all. They both deserve each other & the happiness they brought upon one another. Lark Rider's friendship with Rose and her love story with Yancy Jones also added a touch of uniqueness in this book. I've read this book twice & my response is even better than the first. This book & the series will be a great addition to your collection.

one of the best books i have ever read.
Heart warming.and very romantic. This was the first book I read and now I look forward to reading more of her work.I just can't get enough.Once you start reading you just can't stop untill you are finished.

Fresh Scent : Selected Haiku of Lee Gurga
Published in Hardcover by Brooks Books (January, 1998)
Authors: Lee Gurga, Randy M. Brooks, and Randy, M. Brooks
Average review score:

A Celebration of the Ordinary
English langauge haiku collections don't get much better than this. Gurga is a master at turning everyday moments into haiku that continue to resonate long after the reader has put down the book. Rural and family life are strong themes in Gurga's haiku and this emphasis helps reinforce the feel of a poet at ease with himself. This book is a "must have" purchase for haiku lovers and has much to teach all poets.

haiku gem
Lee Gurga follows the tradition of Japanese haiku sometimes like Basho, sometimes like Issa. He not only describes the so-called haiku moment, but also illustrates his insight in the shortest form of poetry. In this collection, readers will see scenery in the Midwest captured dynamically and domestic life captured with watchful eyes and a warm heart. His essay on haiku at the end of the book will help people to understand the beauty of haiku and how Gurga uses his brushstroke. Recommended to all poetry lovers.

From Battlefield to the Bottom Line : The Leadership Lessons of Robert E. Lee
Published in Paperback by Presidio Pr (December, 1995)
Author: Bil, Phd Holton
Average review score:

Excellent resource for leading high performance teams!!
Dr. Holton has performed superbly in extracting the essence of Lee the man, the soldier, leader and hero from a variety of primary source materials. His alignment of these quotes from Lee and those who knew him to some 119 characteristics of leadership is riveting and true.

Arranged alphabetically, Holton covers a wide range of leadership characteristics-from courage to management by objectives and virtual reality-that unmask problems and bottle necks in almost any private or public corporate structure. Personnel from any level in the corporate structure will find this readable, easily understood, and immediately applicable to their area of work.

This is a must for any organization that is or already has shifted to self-directed or high performance team management. Lee was a master of this strategy, and the details of his skill show clearly through Dr. Holton's work.

Having read extensively of the literature on Lee's command of the Army of Northern Virginia, I was very impressed with Dr. Holton's skill in matching the excerpts from primary sources of Lee's career with the 119 management concepts presented in this compact, 158 page, guide to leadership.

The only quote that I missed seeing in my reading of this work, which would have only added to the character portrait Holton develops, is a paragraph from the January 21, 1993 Congressional Record:

"Robert E. Lee's religious conviction was clearly expressed in his sense of honor and duty. He revealed this in a note he wrote to himself: 'There is a true glory and a true honor: the glory of duty done--the honor of the integrity of principle."

Useful study of leadership.
Robert E. Lee was not only one of the greatest soldiers of all time, his managerial ability and leadership enabled him to withstand overwhelming odds for four years and emerge with the love and respect of all who knew him.
While few of us can muster the sterling qualities (and patriotic impetus) of Marse Bob, we can yet benefit from his wisdom and integrity, and aspire at least to emulate the qualities which made him one of the most respected figures in American history.
The present work is a companion to "From Battlefield to Bottom Line", a study of U.S. Grant's leadership, by the same author. Both are highly recommended to anyone who wishes to learn leadership from two masters.
(The numerical rating above is an ineradicable default setting within the format. This reviewer does not employ numerical ratings.

Big Gal Gets The Stud
If you've ever wanted to read a ... romance where the leading lady is big, bold, and beautiful and she ends up with the wonderful, handsome [man], this is the book for you.

From the first few pages this book will burn your fingers. It will grab you, make you cry, make you laugh, and leave you very aroused.

Do not read this book in public or without your SO around to relieve the tension when you're finished. ...

Timeless Tales review by Diana

I enjoyed this entertaining and fun book immensely. Full Bodied Charmer is a well-written, fast paced and sensual story, while also being sweet and romantic. The characters are fully developed and their relationship and love for each other develops at a believable pace. Very few books deal with real characters like our heroine, almost all of the heroines in today's contemporary romances are tall, beautiful and "willowy" or petite, beautiful and a "perfect size six". Full Bodied Charmer deals skillfully with our preconceived ideas of what or who will make us happy. Along with the romance of Rick and Jennifer, the story has interesting and enjoyable secondary characters, especially Jennifer's best friend Cherica Martin and Rick's friend and business partner Troy Hunter, who has married a full-figured girl of his own.
